- Direction and Counsel Concerning Field Choices
For a missionary candidate who is seeking God's will, GFA provides
information concerning the needs and opportunities for missionary
service around the world and assists him in discerning God's call.
- Credibility
GFA helps give credibility to the individual missionary. The testimony
of GFA adds Christian recognition and weight to the missionary's
calling. Pastors have greater confidence to invite a missionary to
speak when they know he is with a board that will maintain a strong
Biblical position over the years of the missionary's service.
- Training
GFA assists in the preparation of its missionary appointees through its
yearly missionary conference and through individual instruction to help
them have active and fruitful deputation and on-field ministries.
- Transmission of Funds
GFA keeps financial support records for each missionary and project and
provides him a monthly statement of support and supporters. Support
sent through GFA will be sent to the missionary and receipts sent to
donors.
- Representation
GFA is recognized by many foreign governments and can therefore deal
more effectively with difficult problems, visas, etc., that the
missionary may encounter on the field.
- Practical Assistance
GFA strives to maintain open channels with the missionary on
deputation, on furlough, and on the field and offers assistance
whenever needed.
- Insurance
GFA arranges group insurance coverage for each missionary and handles the processing of claims.
- Communication
GFA communicates with the missionary's supporters and friends around
the world to keep them up-to-date with his ministry and needs. This is
accomplished through a variety of means: literature, letters, and radio
broadcasts.
- Consultation and Encouragement
GFA provides its missionaries with solid counsel in matters relating to
deputation, furlough, and field ministries. While on the field, the
missionaries are visited by mission personnel, and during furloughs
debriefings are held with each missionary to help the mission maintain
a clear understanding of the needs and challenges of each field and
missionary.
- Mediation
GFA is able to act as mediator in problems which may occur on the
field. Problems on a field can involve several missionaries and mission
agencies, as well as several home churches. The mission board, as a
neutral mediator, can effectively help resolve these conflicts.
- Coordination of On-Field Ministries
GFA assists by helping to coordinate missionary endeavors. Because of
its extensive association with strong Fundamental churches at home and
with mission fields around the world, GFA can provide a solid pivotal
point for coordination between them.
- MK Education
GFA provides materials for educating its missionary children on the
field. GFA also provides special training for those who homeschool
their children on the field.
Providing Assistance
Many logistical issues confront missionaries who seek to travel to
and work as missionaries on the foreign field today. GFA Missions is
able to assist missionaries by providing:
- representation before foreign governments
- contacts for support
- training and counsel from experienced missions personnel
- coordination of on-field ministries
- affordable insurance
- materials for children's education
- helpful literature
How Does GFA Do It?
GFA
offers all of these services to the missionaries with no required
service charge. One hundred percent of all funds received at the home
office for missionaries goes to them. GFA does not automatically take
for home office operational costs from the missionary's support. We
depend largely on gifts from churches and friends of GFA.
