Future GFA Church Plants
sneedensw Metro Baptist Church
San Diego, California

Rev. Tim Sneeden and his wife Eileen are presently seeking to raise the additional three to five years of support needed to plant Metro Baptist Church in San Diego, California.  At the end of December 2007, they had reached 40 percent.  They are residing in North Carolina during this time of deputation.

Tim served as an assistant pastor and choir director for twelve years at a Baptist church in his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina, before enrolling in Bob Jones University.  He graduated from BJU in 1997 with a B.A. degree in Bible and is working on a master of ministry degree.  Eileen holds both a B.S. degree in physics and a Ph.D. in biophysics from the University of Michigan.  After receiving her doctorate, she worked as a research associate at Stanford University until 2003.

From 1999 until 2007, Tim served as assistant pastor at Hamilton Square Baptist Church in San Francisco, California.  Eileen was active in the youth and ladies’ ministries of the church.  They were married in 2002.  At the end of 2007, Tim resigned to begin actively preparing to plant a church in San Diego.  Dr. David Innes, pastor at HSBC, enthusiastically recommends Tim as a church planter and Hamilton Square is the Sneeden’s sending church.  GFA is pleased to be partnering with this strong fundamental church to assist Tim and Eileen in their church-planting goal.

Tim says, “I was impressed early on that God wanted me to plant a church in a large urban area.  Dr. Bob Jones Jr. spoke in the ministerial class and, in response to a question, said that if he were planting a church, he would go to California.  I began then thinking of the possibility of such an endeavor.  When accepting the call to Hamilton Square Baptist Church, I told Pastor Innes that I believed God was calling me to plant a church in California . . . the burden never left and eventually was codified with the call for the field of San Diego.”

The Sneedens hope to begin planting Metro Baptist Church in the fall of 2008.
